CONSERVATION & ACCESS In our region two very important organizations deserve the full support of paddlers for the work they do both nationally and here in Washington State. American Whitewater is the only organization working solely for the interests of whitewater paddlers. Another important organization is American Rivers. They have an office in Seattle with top notch individuals who take on some of the most significant river conservation projects in the region (a few include: White Salmon Dam removal, enforcement of water metering, improved in-stream flow through the Clean Water Act, and discussion of Snake River dam removal). And don't forget to join at least one of our local paddling clubs. Even if you don't participate in regular trips, local government and non-profit representatives will contact these clubs for input on projects that affect all of us--make sure your voice is represented through your membership!
