In late October of 1997 twelve boaters from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota had the opportunity to boat this section of river which is controled by the Rhinelander Paper Company. The flow release study allowed boaters to try the river at 400, 600, and 800 cfs. Although the river did not get high marks for scenery, it does have potential as an easily accessible location for instruction and training. The company has since made the reach available to boaters during scheduled releases. See American Whitewater for additional information.
