HALLS CREEK
(Jackson Co., WI, 7 miles north of Black River Falls)
LENGTH , CLASS II, GRADIENT:
SEASON: A week or two in early spring.
PUT-IN: Garage Rd. bridge 6.8 north of Black River Falls off of Hwy. 12-27
TAKEOUT: At the canoe launch site on the west bank of the Black River where Halls Creek flows into the Black
GAGE: Check the flow from the Co. Hwy. E bridge across Halls Creek.
FUN FACT: a mellow float with a couple rapids
SHUTTLE: From the put-in on Garage Rd. go east and turn south on Flood Rd. Continue to Co. Hwy. E. and turn south until you cross Halls Creek. Turn left into the canoe launch area.
For a longer float you can put in at the dam below Trow Lake. There are only a couple drops on this creek run, but if the rivers are slow opening up north and you have already boated the Black more than you care to, this creek is worth checking out.
It could be a challenging open canoe run if you catch it when the water is up.
