TYLER RIVER, (Iron Co., WI, 9 mi. east of Mellen)
LENGTH 6.5 mi., CLASS III/IV
SEASON: A week or two in early spring.
PUT-IN: Upstream of the Hwy. 77 Bridge 9 mi. east of Mellen. West of the Hwy 77 bridge, turn South on Moore Rd. and work your way back towards the river. From a small parking area along the river, carry upstream to the Dells.
TAKEOUT: End of Vogues Rd. at the river on river right.
GAGE: Visual.
FUN FACT: Little waterfall.
FIRST DESCENT:
SHUTTLE: From the put-in drive east 1.5 miles to Casey Sag Rd. Turn north on this road and follow it for 7 miles (about 2/3 of the way along this road it turns to the west). The road merges with Vogues Rd. At this point you are within a couple hundred yards of the river.
The dells provide the main excitement on this run and are class III or IV depending on water level. The run downstream of the Hwy. 77 bridge is mostly class II.
