The Whitewater Program of the Wisconsin Hoofers Outing Club

The University of Wisconsin Outing Club has been one of the leading whitewater orgainizations in the midwest and the the nation for over 40 years. This section includes articles by two of the early participants in this program plus an account of a 2001 reunion of 150 paddlers from all stages of the history of the club.

The early history of the club's whitewater program was shaped by a tragic accident which claimed the life of a paddler. This lead to the instituion of a strong safety program which continues to this day.
